E COW (ck literacy libraries)
How wonderful - Joy Cowley once again knows how to relate to children. My students love this story of a little yellow chicken who has a party and none of his friends want to help. He asks his grandmother, The Little Red Hen,what to do. She says not to invite them - eat everything yourself. But the little yellow chicken is a kind chicken and decides to have his friends come anyway. They enjoy the party and promise to do all the work next time. It's nice to see the Joy Cowley understands the truly selfless ethos of forgiveness, redemption, and giving.
